Reporter Scott Scanlon eloquently writes: “The new executive director of the Lupus Alliance of Upstate New York has a hard act to follow, and not only because as the point person for the alliance, she is charged with boosting awareness about lupus across 33 counties in the Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, Albany and North Country regions. She also is following in the footsteps of Honi Kurzeja, who has the autoimmune disease and retired earlier this year after 37 years at the helm.”
The Lupus Alliance of Upstate New York is a member of the Lupus Research Institute National Coalition, the “patients’ voice for lupus research,” comprised of advocates nationwide.
“We look back with great pride and fondness on many years of advocacy success working with Honi Kurzeja in New York State and at the national level,” commented Margaret Dowd, President and CEO of the Lupus Research Institute. “As we wish Honi the very best in her retirement, we congratulate Judith on her new position and look forward to exciting future collaboration on important legislative advocacy to benefit the lupus community.”
